Ingredients List

1 tbsp. oil

1 onion, finely chopped

1 clove of garlic crushed

500g Passata

½ tsp. Maldon salt

1 tsp. oregano

Pepper to taste

Meatballs

500g beef mince

250g pork mince

3 slices of bread grated into breadcrumbs

1 medium onion finely chopped

1 clove garlic finely chopped

1 tsp. oregano

1 egg

½ tsp. Maldon salt

1 tsp. black pepper

oil for frying the meatballs

Method

1. Make the tomato sauce first.

2. Place the onion in a non-stick pan with 1 tbsp. of oil and let it cook gently, when translucent – add the garlic.  Cook for 3 minutes.

3. Add the Passata and the oregano.

4. Simmer gently - whilst you make the meatballs.

Meatballs:

5. Put the beef and pork mince in a large bowl with all the other ingredients.

6. Mix thoroughly.

7. Use your hands to create balls of mince about the size of a golf ball

8. When ready to cook, fry on a medium heat with a little oil for approximately 15 minutes.

5. Then add to the tomato sauce and cook for a further 10 minutes

Helpful Hint

If you wet your hands with water before you start the mince will not stick to you as much.  When cooking the meatballs don’t over mix or they may break up.

Serve Suggestions

Serve the meatballs with spaghetti, or any of your favourite pasta.  Or with mashed potatoes, rice or cous cous.
